Description
Location: Intersection of PA 29 Main Street and 11th Street

For a long time the intersection of PA 29 and 11th St. was one of the most dangerous in the Upper Perkiomen Valley.  Buildings, hills, and offset streets make it difficult to see traffic.  Car accidents and injured pedestrians were a regular occurrence.

The municipalities, the school district, and the state representatives of the Upper Perkiomen region pooled their money together to install a traffic signal.  When they got to construction and realized they were short of money, the county agreed to help cover some of the gap with funding from the Jump Start Program.

The project installed a dual traffic signal at each leg of 11th St., along with dedicated turning lanes, pedestrian signals, and crosswalks.  ADA-compliant curb ramps were completed separately by PennDOT as part of the federal stimulus program.
