Description
Limits:  PA 23 Front Street to
I-476 Blue Route on-Ramps

The rush hour backups on the bridge between the Conshohockens were the stuff of legend, and much of it was caused by the configuration of Matsonford Road right after Front Street.  Two lanes narrowed into one as drivers fled the left lane to avoid being forced onto the Schuylkill Expressway.  Traffic spilled through the intersection and onto the bridge.

The project widened Matsonford Road to create a second lane for traffic traveling westbound toward the Blue Route on-ramps.  Now drivers in the left lane have the option of continuing down Matsonford Road.  By eliminating sudden merges, this project was a simple, low-cost solution to a larger congestion problem.
