"Greenways and Trails — Your Path to Active Living" will take place from September 28-30 at The Inn at Pocono Manor. The event will feature keynote addresses from national leaders in greenways, trails, and active living as well as classroom sessions with experts on greenway and trail development, management, advocacy, and promotion. Transportation Funding Forum
Montgomery County is hosting a Transportation Funding Forum on October 3, 2008 to discuss how transportation improvements can advance despite inadequate state and federal funding. The forum will focus on how this funding issue will affect Montgomery County’s effort to manage congestion, economic development, competitiveness, and quality of life. Speakers and panelists will represent their perspective on the issue, and participants will take part in roundtable discussions to talk about potential solutions. The forum is limited to 150 people, and pre-registration is required by September 26, 2008. The forum is free; however, no-shows or cancellation after September 26 will result in a charge of $25. The event will take place at Presidential Caterers, 2910 DeKalb Pike in East Norriton from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Participants are asked to arrive by 7:30 for registration. Planning for Sustainability: Green Codes and Planning
This two-day workshop will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Main Conference Room of DVRPC, 190 North Independence Mall West, Philadelphia. The focus of the workshop will be to educate planning practitioners and decision-makers to develop policies, plans, and codes for enhanced sustainability in order to facilitate an increase in local adoption of sustainable planning practices.
