County Planning

The county planning section provides countywide planning services and information on a variety of issues affecting Montgomery County, including growth management, development trends, land use, economic development, and housing.  County planning staff analyzes development proposals, housing prices, housing units built, shopping center construction, demographic information, and other planning data.  A recent major focus was the development of our new county comprehensive plan.  Our county planners are assisting other planners and municipalities in implementation of the plan by developing model ordinances and other tools.  This section also manages two important county programs—the community revitalization program, which distributes economic development grants to municipalities, and the agriculture land preservation program, which purchases development rights on farmland in accordance with a state program.  Click here for major county planning projects.
