Montgomery County Poet Laureate Program

The Montgomery County Poet Laureate Program, now in its ninth year, benefits the county by building a long-term infrastructure for literary advancement in our community and our schools.

The 2007 Montgomery Poet Laureate, selected in April by the renowned American poet Carolyn Forche, is Glenside resident David Simpson.

Simpson's poetry has appeared in numerouos journals including Alaska Quarterly, River, River Styx, The Cortland Review, Verse Daily and La Petite Zine. In 2005, he was first runner up in the Fraser Poetry Competition; in 2006, he received honorable mention in the Passager poetry contest and a Pushcart nomination from the Schuylkill Valley Journal. His first manuscript, Hyancinths, is in search of a publisher.
