DISTRICT JUSTICES
The minor judiciary of the County operates within the framework of the District Justice system. Presently, the County is divided into 30 districts. Elected to sixyear terms, the salary of the justices is paid by the Commonwealth, while the County employs other personnel in the offices and provides office space, equipment and supplies for each office.
Individuals may file suit with a District Justice if they have complaints against a person or business and wish to recover an amount of money totaling $8,000 or less. The $8,000 limit excludes the cost of the suit itself. If you win the suit you are entitled to be reimbursed for court costs. If an individual wishes to sue for more than $8,000 he must bring suit in the County's Court of Common Pleas. (Human Services Center, Norristown, PA 19401. (610) 278-3058)
