Montgomery County, PA

     Past the Courthouse garage entrance (careful!), at the corner of Main and Swede Streets this square was owned by the University of Pennsylvania. The rent was one acorn per year.  As you walk through the square, note the several monuments of interest, especially the central obelisk dedicated to Civil War General Zook and the 51st Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers.  Within the square, farther up Swede Street is the 1932 Purple Heart Memorial to all Norristonian war casualties.
