Area Agency on Aging Seeks Caregiver Nominees for Awards Ceremony
NORRISTOWN-- The Montgomery County Office of Aging and Adult Services is seeking nominees for awards as part of its “Salute to Caregivers” celebration scheduled for November 18, 2006 to honor the many people who care for the elderly throughout Montgomery County. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Montgomery County Human Services Building, 1430 DeKalb Street.
Caregivers are family members, friends, home health aides, visiting nurses and others who serve and perform unselfishly to aid those unable to care for themselves.
At the culmination of the day’s activities, the County will honor those who have in some way distinguished themselves by performing their caregiving role in an exemplary manner. Six award categories will be presented and one of those will be named “Caregiver of the Year” for 2006. The categories are as follows:
- Caregiver of the Year 2006
- Home Care (Paid Caregiver)
- Institutional Care (Paid Caregiver)
- Family Caregiver
- Caregiver (60+ years of age) to the Physically or Mentally challenged
- Grandparent (60+ years of age, raising children)
The objective of the day is to give Montgomery County’s dedicated caregivers the opportunity to relax, have fun and hopefully learn how to ease the stress of their day-to-day activities. In addition, lunch will be provided.
Respite care will be provided for those individuals who need assistance in order for the caregivers to attend the event. Contact the Family Caregiver Program at 610-278-3601 for further information.
