Pennypacker Mills Receives Donation
SCHWENKSVILLE — The Montgomery County Commissioners are pleased to announce that Pennypacker Mills, one of the gems in the County’s historic sites, will receive a sizeable donation from a local historic preservation group.
The Fairwold Chapter of the Questers will present the County with a $7,100 donation at Pennypacker Mills during a brief ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24.
The donation includes matching contributions for the Questers’ state and international chapters. It will be used to manufacture unique wallpaper and border for the second floor sitting room. This wallpaper is documented in an original photograph of the room when former Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker lived there.
Pennypacker Mills was the summer estate of former Governor Pennypacker. A 135-acre working “Gentleman’s Farm,” it reflected the important place that farming had in society at that time.
The Fairwold Chapter of the Questers was founded in Montgomery County in 1944 to support local historic sites.
