Lafayette Street Corridor and Riverfront Area
Planning Workshop
The Montgomery County Planning Commission will conduct a planning workshop for the Lafayette Street Corridor and riverfront area on Thursday, February 23rd.
The workshop will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Montgomery County Human Services Center, 1430 Dekalb Street, Norristown.
As a major step in the economic revitalization of Norristown, the Lafayette Street Transportation Improvements Project began in 2000. As a part of the roadway planning process, redevelopment and revitalization of the lands along the Schuylkill River in Norristown and Plymouth Township to the new Lafayette Street will be examined.
The meeting will give citizens, business owners, elected officials, planning commission members and anyone interested in redevelopment in the corridor in Norristown and Plymouth Township a chance to voice their thoughts on future redevelopment.
The project consultants, Edwards and Kelcey, will give a presentation on existing conditions and plans for improvements and then seek the public’s thoughts on future land usage and riverfront access.
Participants can give their input on what the corridor should look like to complement the existing area and how the public should have access to the riverfront. Questions will be answered both before and after the presentation. In the event of inclement weather, the workshop will be held on Monday, February 27th.
