Focus Area Acquisitions
Ginkiewicz Property: Purchase price - $500,000
A 12.39-acre parcel along the Perkiomen Creek in the Spring Mountain Focus Area; protects natural and scenic resources; important connector between Spring Mountain and Pennypacker Mills; forms part of Perkiomen Greenway; Perkiomen Trail relocated through property.
Ferraro Property: Purchase price - $500,000
A 13.72-acre parcel adjoining above; protects natural and scenic resources; important connector between Spring Mountain and Pennypacker Mills; forms part of Perkiomen Greenway; Perkiomen Trail relocated through property.
Kehs Triangle: Purchase price - $55,000
A 3.7-acre parcel across Perkiomen Trail from the Ginkiewicz and Ferraro parcels; protects natural and scenic greenway context; key connector between Spring Mountain and Pennypacker Mills.
Dalton Property: Approved purchase price - $185,000
A 14.4-acre portion of a larger property; completes connection between Sunrise Mill and Stone Hill Focus Areas; protects diabase woodland, steep slopes, and scenic resources; extends system of walking paths between two focus areas; settlement pending.
Farmland Program (encumbered for 2004): $1.5 Million
This funding was reserved at the beginning of 2004 to leverage state funds for preservation of farmland in Montgomery County.
Trail Related Projects: $2.67 Million
These projects include feasibility study, design, and implementation of the Commissioners’ Four-Year Trail Plan – Chester Valley Trail, Cross County Trail, Schuylkill River Trail Extension, and Wissahickon Trail
Municipal Grant Program:
Upper Moreland Ramsey Acquisition $600,000 grant for 8.5-acre property
Approved Planning Grants (13) $300,000 (not to exceed – actual costs may be lower as plans are completed)
Private Conservation Grant Program:
Unami Hills Focus Area Preservation Total grants $100,000
3 separate grants were made to Natural Lands Trust for fee acquisition of 5 acres (Groves Property) adjoining Fulshaw Craeg, conservation easement of 20 acres (Snyder Property) adjoining Fulshaw Craeg, conservation easement of 43 acres (Monahan Property) near Lake Skymount
