TRAIL BRIDGE TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY FOR RECONSTRUCTION
WHITEMARSH — A rail trestle converted to pedestrian use for a recreational trail that crosses the Wissahickon Creek will be closed temporarily for reconstruction beginning the week of February 6th.
It is anticipated that the bridge will be closed for about six weeks, depending on weather conditions.
The bridge, which is currently 5 feet wide, will be re-constructed to a new width of 12 feet. This trail section will eventually connect the State Park’s Flourtown Day Use Area to the main stem of the Wissahickon Green Ribbon Trail and with the main park area at Militia Hill.
The work is scheduled as part of the Montgomery County project to improve the existing Wissahickon Green Ribbon Trail in the area. The improvements are part of the County’s 4-Year Trail Development Plan.
