WEED AND SEED NEEDS PUBLIC HELP SPENDING MONEY
NORRISTOWN — Norristown Weed and Seed has up to $275,000 in grant funding available to it and needs the public’s helping spending it.
Weed and Seed is eligible to receive three grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency: Quality of Life ($75,000), Micro-Enterprise ($75,000) and Youth ($150,000). Approximately $25,000 of these grant funds are already committed to the program administration.
The program’s AID Team (Assistance for Impact Delegation) has set the following priorities for spending the grants for fiscal year 2006-07: Truancy Programs, After School Programs, Crime Prevention/Public Safety Programs, Family Management Programs and Job Readiness/Business Development Programs.
Weed and Seed focuses on community-driven prevention, while attacking the underlying roots that contribute to overall quality of life issues Those who are interested may submit proposals not later than 4:15 PM Tuesday, January 31, 2006.
