28TH ANNUAL MENTAL HEALTH LUNCHEON WEDNESDAY, MAY 18TH
JEFFERSONVILLE — The Montgomery County Mental Health/Mental Retardation office is proud to announce that the 28th Annual Mental Health Luncheon will be held Wednesday, May 18 at Westover Country Club. The event will focus on Creativity and its use in promoting recovery for individuals and also resiliency for children and families.
The keynote event for the luncheon will be a documentary entitled Voices of Hope: Stories of Recovery. It features three individuals who have been served by the mental health system in Montgomery County as they share their personal recovery journeys.
An awards ceremony featuring 16 recipients from across Montgomery County will follow. A brief description of the recipients, their hometowns and why they are being honored is attached.
There will also be two morning workshops. One is entitled "Creativity and Recovery: Drawing a Connection", led by Nancy E. Lubow, M.A., MT-BC, LPC. This workshop is geared toward assisting individuals learn about and experience the power of their own creativity.
Nancy is a nationally certified music and expressive arts therapist with a license in professional counseling. She is director of Troubadors Inc. a company that offers a music-centered expressive arts approach to training mental health professionals in the non-verbal languages of music, movement and the visual arts.
The other workshop, "Creatively Building Resilience", is a panel discussion geared to the recovery of individuals and resiliency for children and families. The presenters include Deb Abrams, movement therapist from Central Montgomery MH/MR Center, Katie Opher, private music therapist and Cathy Evison, private art therapist and a pet therapist with a therapeutic dog.
