RECOVERY TREE DEDICATION SET FOR DECEMBER 6TH

NORRISTOWN — Montgomery County Office of Drug & Alcohol and PRO-ACT of Montgomery County, a non-profit advocacy group, are celebrating recovery from addiction with the 1st annual dedication of a Recovery Tree.
The dedication ceremony will be Monday, December 6, 2004 at 6:30pm by the grand staircase inside the Swede Street entrance of the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown.
The public is encouraged to attend and invited to decorate a magnificent 16-foot evergreen tree with personalized ornaments, available through The Office of Drug and Alcohol, that will bear the names or initials of people who have directly or indirectly experienced addiction.
The ceremony will feature music, personal testimonials and light refreshments.
Montgomery County Commissioners Chairman James R. Matthews will be giving a short speech highlighting the county's commitment to those affected by addiction.
Some use the ornaments to recognize individuals who have lost their lives to alcohol or other drugs. Others celebrate their own recovery or the recovery of family members or friends. A few honor professionals whose work has contributed to the health of the community. The Tree will be prominently displayed in the Courthouse throughout the holiday season.
The Tree is an event that we hope will become a holiday tradition for many families and send a strong message: Recovery Is Possible And Benefits Everyone!
PRO-ACT is an advocacy initiative founded to promote the rights of and ensure opportunities for those still suffering from the disease of addiction, members of the community, and their family members who wish to advocate in Southeast Pennsylvania. PRO-ACT was founded to be a voice for advocacy and change.
