PUBLIC FORUMS SET FOR "WATER RESOURCES PLAN"
NORRISTOWN — The Montgomery County Planning Commission invites the public to take part in one of two public forums for the county’s draft "Water Resources Plan," part of the county’s new 2025 comprehensive plan.
The meetings will begin with an open house where attendees can browse through informative displays on the issues that affect the county’s rivers, creeks and lakes as well as the groundwater that percolates below. This will be followed by an informative presentation and question-and-answer period.
The "Water Resources Plan" guides the county’s water planning decisions to the year 2025 and expands upon the ideas and goals outlined in the "Vision Plan," the overall guide to the new county comprehensive plan.
The "Water Resources Plan" outlines specific priorities for the county in protecting water quality, improving the design of stormwater management facilities, ensuring a dependable water supply and shielding residents and county resources from flood damage. This plan lays out the county’s vision for its water resources over the next 20 years
Local government officials, developers, water suppliers, non-profit organizations and county residents all have an interest in this plan’s implementation. Decisions made by any of these groups have a profound impact on the county’s water resources. The feedback received on local concerns will help guide the final draft of the plan.
The "Water Resources Plan" is one of many detailed plans that will be included in the new 2025 comprehensive plan. The 2025 plan replaces the county’s existing plan, which was adopted in 1979.
The Montgomery County Planning Commission completed a major element of the plan when the County Commissioners adopted the Vision Plan in September. This is the last draft plan to be presented to the public.
