Police have released a composite sketch of an unidentified man posing as a Montgomery County Children and Youth case worker who approached women with small children in the Western end of Montgomery County twice this summer.

The first incident occurred on June 19 at about 7:45 p.m. at a home in Pottstown. The man called the woman by name, identified himself as a case worker for Children and Youth and produced a business card that identified himself as such, but did not bear the Montgomery County seal.

The man said he was there to conduct a "spot check" and left when told the child was not in the house.

The second incident occurred on August 24 at about 2:30 p.m. at a home in Red Hill. The man identified himself as a Montgomery County Child Services worker and said he was responding to a "concern call" about a crying child. The man, who carried a clipboard, entered the home, looked around and said he could tell the child was being well cared for. When asked if he needed to look around the house, he stated "no" and left shortly thereafter. He did not offer any form of identification.

In both cases, the man was described as: a white male, approximately 6 foot

tall, medium build with very short either dirty blonde or light brown hair and very clean-shaven. In both incidents, he was dressed in dark-colored dress pants and a short sleeve golf shirt and was seen entering a dark colored, possibly navy blue, police type vehicle, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria or Chevrolet Caprice.

Anyone with information that could lead police to this individual or about similar incidents is asked to call their local police department, 911, the Montgomery County Detective Bureau at (610) 278-3368 or the Pennsylvania State Police at (610) 584-1250.

A legitimate worker with the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth Services always carries identification bearing their name and photograph. Anyone approached by a Children and Youth Services case worker should ask for identification and can contact the Office of Children and Youth Services to verify that employee at (610) 278-5800.

For additional information, contact First Assistant District Attorney Risa Ferman at (610) 278- 3099 or Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. Drew Skelton at (610) 584-1250.
