PUBLIC FORUM SET FOR "COMMUNITY FACILITIES PLAN"

NORRISTOWN, PA — The Montgomery County Planning Commission invites residents and municipal officials to attend a public forum and comment on the draft "Community Facilities Plan" component of the county’s new 2025 comprehensive plan.
The forum will consist of a presentation on the "Community Facilities Plan" and a question-and-answer period.
The "Community Facilities Plan" will guide the county’s community infrastructure, especially in relation to the county’s growth to the year 2025 part of the next step in the comprehensive plan processand will . It expand upon the ideas and goals of the "Vision Plan," the overall guide to the new county comprehensive plan. The "Community Facilities Plan" includes information and policy recommendations on sewage facilities, water facilities, schools, libraries, solid waste, day care, energy and communications facilities, government facilities, emergency services, and health care.
Community facilities form the hidden backbone of any community, helping neighborhoods to run smoothly and benefiting Montgomery County’s economy, housing market, and transportation system. Even though most detailed planning for community facilities takes place at the local institutional level, this plan strives to coordinate local decision-making with the anticipated future growth and development in the county. The public’s opinions on local concerns will help guide the final edition of the plan.
The "Community Facilities Plan" is one of many detailed plans that will be included in the new 2025 comprehensive plan. The 2025 plan will replace the county’s existing plan, which was adopted in 1979. The Montgomery County Planning Commission completed a major element of the plan in 2002 when it produced the "Vision Plan," following The "Vision Plan" was the result of public public meetings and a local survey. It is the guiding document for the comprehensive plan update and pulls together all the various interrelated plan elements.
