Registration Now Open for Environmental Summer Camps at Montgomery County Parks
Registration is now open for summer camps at three Montgomery County Parks and Heritage Services sites. Camp Salamander focuses on environmental learning and are for children who have completed 1st through 6th grades.
Each morning is filled with activities that teach children about the natural world. Insects, plants, water, birds and animals are explored using games and hands-on activities. Age-appropriate lessons are developed each year by our staff of professional educators and naturalists.
Camp Salamander will be held at the following:
Green Lane Park – Nature Center at 1492 Gravel Pike in Green Lane, Pa., during the weeks of June 21, July 26 and August 9, 2010. Hours of Camp are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fee is $70.00 per child.
Lorimer Park at 183 Moredon Road, Huntingdon Valley, Pa., during the week of July 12, 2010. Hours of Camp are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fee is $35.00 per child.
Norristown Farm Park at 2500 Upper Farm Road, Norristown, Pa. Camp runs the weeks of June 28 and July 19, 2010. Hours of Camp are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fee is $70.00 per child.
Additional information can be found on the registration form or by phoning the education staff at 610.270.0215. Registration begins January 2 and runs through April 30, 2010 or until camp spaces are filled.
Registration forms can be picked up at the three camp locations or downloaded from our website
www.parks.montcopa.org. You may also request that a form be mailed to you by phoning 610.270.0215. A non-refundable $70.00 fee must accompany each registration form. Because payment is required at time of registration, no registration will be accepted by phone, fax or email.
The mission of the Parks and Heritage Department is to provide the premier system of natural, recreational and historical sites in this region and state by giving an exceptional visitor experience that encourages respect and understanding for the County's natural and cultural resources. Camp Salamander fulfills this mission and is offered at various locations within the Montgomery County Parks and Heritages Services Department.
