Volunteer Bicyclists to Help Clear the Trail
NORRISTOWN — Volunteers from cycling organizations will join Montgomery County Parks and Heritage Services staff Saturday morning to help trim weeds and brush along a portion of the Schuylkill River Trail.
Where: Haws Avenue and the Schuylkill River Trail, Norristown
When: Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Who: Volunteers organized by the Montgomery County Bicycle Committee of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and Montgomery County Parks and Heritage Services staff.
What: Trim brush and collect trash along the Schuylkill River Trail.
This clean-up effort is being undertaken to help improve safety along the trail after two bicyclists reported being assaulted along that stretch of the trail in recent weeks.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Park Rangers and Norristown Police have also stepped up patrols and monitoring in the area to improve safety.
