5th Annual Black History Month Celebration Planned for Montgomery County 
 
Montgomery County’s 2009 Black History Month celebration will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Montgomery County Human Services Center, 1430 DeKalb Street in Norristown, PA. The program theme will link the past, present and future for a festive, educational celebration of African American culture. (“Heal the Past, Live the Present, Dream the Future”). 
 
“Each year is more exciting!” said Marlene Harris-Peter, Black History Month Committee Chairperson. “I believe the theme for this year, ‘Heal the Past, Live the Present, Dream the Future’, is right on time, not just for African Americans, but for all Americans, as we move toward positive change at various levels."   
 
The keynote speaker will be State Senator Anthony Hardy Williams who represents the 8th Senatorial District. Invited program panelists include Montgomery County Treasurer Garrett D. Page, Cheryl Lynne Austin, Esquire and Steven C. Tolliver, Sr., Esquire- Corporate Litigation Counsel for AETNA. Remarks will be offered by Commissioner Joseph Hoeffel.   
 
In addition to the panelists, the day’s activities will include musical selections by Frank Perry and dance selections by Kimberly Brown, as well as, cultural/ethnic educational displays. A delicious lunch menu featuring traditional ethnic food items will be available for a cost of $6 per platter.
