Montgomery County hosting 2nd Annual Children’s Safety Fair
 
(Norristown, PA) —The Montgomery County Public Safety Department, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Health Department, will be hosting the 2nd Annual Children’s Safety fair.  Our aim is to help families build good health and safety habits into their daily lives.
There is no admission cost for the event.
 
What: Montgomery County Children’s Safety Fair
Where: Public Safety Training Campus (Fire Academy)
1175 Conshohocken Road, Conshohocken, PA    
When: September 27, 2008, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
 
Research shows that children are more likely to practice good safety tips when they learn from the positive actions of parents or other influential adults. Children and caregivers will learn together at fun, interactive displays with safety and health experts.
 
Some activities and information available at the Safety Fair will include:
 
• Weather Safety:  Meet 6ABC meteorologist Erica Grow and learn what you should do in the event of a weather emergency. Presentation will begin at 11:30am.
 
• Car Seat Safety Checks- Have your child safety seat checked by a Certified Car Seat Technician.  Must have an appointment.                  Call 215-590-5437
 
• School Bus Safety- Learn and practice proper behavior when riding on the school bus.
 
• Bike Rodeo: Bring your own bike and learn about proper helmet sizing and bicycle safety by the experts
 
• PennSTAR helicopter:  See the helicopter that transports people in an emergency. 
 
• Montgomery County Bomb Squad: See a demonstration by the bomb squad.
 
• Personal Safety: See a Tae Kwon Do demonstration and learn more about protection.
 
• Kid’s Safety House: Visit the mobile trailer to learn what to do in case of a fire emergency.
 
• Meet McGruff the Crime Dog- and learn about stranger safety.
 
There will also be door prizes, including a $100 gift card to Walmart, a $20 Power Play card and stuffed animal from Dave and Buster’s and much more
