Montgomery County Commissioners Provide an Assist to Babe Ruth World Series

NORRISTOWN  — The Montgomery County Commissioners are kicking in $10,000 to help Lower Providence Township host the Babe Ruth World Series for 12-and-under girls.

Lower Providence and the Audubon Recreation Association had little more than two weeks notice to prepare to host an event that usually takes a year of planning.

A team from Luzerne County had been scheduled to host the tournament, which includes 14 teams from across the nation and over 300 participants. The tournament began Thursday and runs through next week.

Representatives of the Audubon team who are participating in the tournament presented Commissioners Chairman James R. Matthews and Commissioners Joseph M. Hoeffel and Bruce L. Castor, Jr. with a mounted softball, signed by the Audubon team, a World Series commemorative bat, and World Series shirts and pins.

Additional sponsors include the Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Paravoti Catering, Audubon Land Development, The Club at Shannondell, and Arnold’s Family Fun Center.
