New Multi-Use SWAT Truck Presented
NORRISTOWN — The Montgomery County Commissioners presented Upper Dublin Chief of Police Terry Thompson with the keys to a new tactical truck Monday for use by the Moreland Area Tactical Team.
The Upper Dublin Police Department will house the truck and provide operators to drive it.
The Moreland Area Tactical Team is the County’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Tactical Team, meaning its members are trained to operate in situations where chemical, radiological or biological contamination has occurred.
The vehicle is designed to operate in contaminated environments and can transmit video to officials who are located at a safe distance.
The truck will also serve the Major Incident Response Team comprised of 150 officers from every department in the County.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional Task Force purchased the vehicle for
$280,000 using homeland security funding.
