New Web Site Will Monitor Prgress of Proposal to Extend Rail Services on the R6 Line
NORRISTOWN — Residents interested in restoring passenger service on the R6 line beyond Norristown can monitor the progress of a feasibility study on that matter online.
The R6 Norristown Line Service Extension Study, initiated by the Montgomery County Planning Commission, can be accessed at
www.r6extension.com or through links on the planning commission’s site (
www.planning.montcopa.org).
These websites will provide public meeting announcements and information about the project, which will explore lower-cost rail options and innovative funding sources to determine if rail service is viable service between Norristown and Wyomissing.
“We are excited to introduce this new website for the R6 Extension Study,” stated Kenneth B. Hughes, director of the Montgomery County Planning Commission. “The website will bring the most up-to-date information about the project to the public at their convenience.”
