Montgomery County Dept. of Public Safety Recruiting 25 Additional Telecommunicators

EAGLEVILLE, PA — The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety is looking for the best to answer the call, literally, thousands of times per day.

With a strong commitment to public safety, the Montgomery County Commissioners approved in this year’s budget the unprecedented hiring of twenty-five additional telecommunicators to answer 9-1-1 calls.

The recruiting and testing process has begun, and the Department is looking for those that are seeking a challenging and rewarding career in a dynamic and exciting environment.

Telecommunicators were responsible for answering over 1 million emergency phone calls in 2007, and dispatched police, fire, and emergency medical services nearly 655,000 times.

Now based in a state-of-the-art Communications Center in Eagleville, telecommunicators have personal workstations with individual climate controls, fully paid training, and work on average just 173 days per year.

The Department of Public Safety provides 9-1-1 service and communications support to nearly 150 public safety agencies throughout the County.

“This is a unique time to join the Department,” said Deputy Director for Communications and Technology Sean Petty.  “We are experiencing tremendous growth in our most vital position, 9-1-1 Communications, and are searching for the best.”

The County of Montgomery offers a very generous medical, dental, and vision benefit package as well as a very competitive salary.  Interested applicants are encouraged to go to the agency’s recruitment website, http://www.mcdps.org  or to call a recruiter at 610-631-6507.
