COURT CARE RECEIVES FOUR STAR RATING AND GRANT
NORRISTOWN — The Montgomery County Court Care program has received a coveted Star IV quality rating from the Pennsylvania Keystone Stars program, a designation that is accompanied by an $11,400 merit grant.
Montgomery County Court Care is the first non-traditional child care program in Pennsylvania to achieve the Star IV rating and one of only 30 in the county that has it.
Keystone Stars is Pennsylvania’s child care quality improvement and assessment program. It awards stars at four different levels to Department of Public Welfare regulated child care providers.
A nationally recognized assessment tool is used to look at staff qualifications and professional development, early learning program, partnerships with family and community, and leadership and management.
Since it began in March, 1996, Montgomery County Court Care has served over 28,000 children. The program provides free child care services for people who have business with the civil or criminal court system and related departments such as the Domestic Relations or Prothonotary offices. The service is also available to parents who have jury duty and those who have business with court-related agencies such as Legal Aid, the Women’s Center, Victims Services and domestic violence and homeless shelters.
