MONTGOMERY COUNTY HOSTING SAFETY FAIR

NORRISTOWN — June is National Safety Month.  Throughout the month there will be nationwide activities that address safety risks and include injury prevention tips pertinent to the workplace, driving, the home and community.  To celebrate National Safety Month, Montgomery County will again be hosting two free Safety Fairs.  Our aim is to prevent accidental injury and death by educating and influencing people to adopt and maintain safe and healthy practices and behaviors in all aspects of their lives.
 
Montgomery County is hosting the Safety Fairs to raise awareness of employees and the community of the resources available for home and workplace health and safety.

Eliminating hazards in the workplace and at home begins with education and awareness.  A focus on safety, both at home and in the workplace, can prevent injuries and economic losses that occur each year because of preventable hazards.

Some activities and information available at the Safety Fair will include:
 
• View a Shelter-in-place kit and learn how your family can properly prepare one
 
• Watch a live fire extinguisher demonstration
 
• Learn how to protect yourself from identity theft
 
• Get a free mini-massage from a certified massage therapist
 
• Have a Dermascan done to detect skin damage from the sun
 
• Have a cholesterol screening
 
• Watch a Live Martial Arts Demonstration
 

 Especially for kids

• Children in grades 1 – 8 can go through the fire Safety House trailer and practice safety measures with the use of safe smoke for a level of realism
 
• Meet Sparky the Dog Mascot for Fire Safety
 
• Learn about D.A.R.E. - which provides children with the information and skills they need to live drug and violence free lives
 
• Car seat safety checks
 
• Bike safety
