Lafayette Street Corridor and Riverfront Area public workshop
The Montgomery County Planning Commission will conduct a public workshop for the Lafayette Street corridor and riverfront area on Thursday, May 18, 2006.
The workshop will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Montgomery County – Norristown Public Library Community Room, 1001 Powell Street, Norristown.
This workshop will focus on the results of the February 23 public information meeting regarding land use and access to the riverfront as part of the long-range vision of the revitalization of the Norristown waterfront and Lafayette Street corridor in Norristown and Plymouth.
This initial meeting gave citizens, business owners, elected officials, planning commission members and anyone interested in redevelopment in the corridor a chance to share their thoughts on future redevelopment. Based on that, the County and its consultant will now present a vision of what that area could be like in the future.
The Lafayette Street Transportation Improvements Project is a major step in the economic revitalization of Norristown. As a part of the roadway planning process, redevelopment and revitalization of the lands along the Schuylkill River in Norristown and Plymouth Township to the new Lafayette Street are being examined for future land usage and riverfront access.
