CHILD ABUSE & NEGLECT
Child Abuse, as defined by the Child Protective Service Law (23 Pa. C.S., Chapter 63), must involve a child, a perpetrator and an act of abuse:

  •  Child is defined as a person under the age of 18.
  •  
  •  Perpetrator is defined as a person who has committed child abuse AND is:
     · A parent of a child,
            · A paramour of a child’s parent,
     · An individual 14 years of age or older residing in the same home
    as the child,
     · A person responsible for the child’s welfare.

    If you suspect that a child is a victim of abuse or neglect, we encourage you to report it. Reports may be made anonymously, but by giving your name you add credibility to the report.

    Child Neglect is defined as any act or omissions that resLt in a failure to provide the essentials of life, including food, shelter, clothing, health care, personal care and proper supervision, and that create a potential for harm to the child’s safety, functioning or development.
