POSITION: Telecommunicator Trainees
DEPARTMENT: Emergency Dispatch Services
SALARY: $33,857 - 37,044, depending on relevant experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive calls from public; accurately assign requests for police, fire, emergency medical units and other public safety resources
Dispatch appropriate units to police, fire and emergency medical incidents
Communication coordination of public safety agencies and resources
Knowledgeable in county geopolitical boundaries, major highways and landmarks and communication center policies and procedures
Utilize County "Computer Aided Dispatch System"
Accurately record information on variety of forms and logs as dictated by policies and procedures
Allied duties as assigned
Considered "essential personnel" and will be required to report for work regardless of weather conditions
ABILITIES, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma (GED)
Accurate typist (minimum 25 wpm)
Available for shift work/rotation
Clear, understandable telephone/radio voice
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure
Excellent inter-personal, oral and written communication skills
No record of criminal convictions
Valid Pennsylvania drivers license
Successful completion of Communications Division classroom training
Meet and maintain operator qualifications which includes, but is not limited to, passing the following tests: "Clean Operator Certification" every two years, PEMA Challenge Certification every three years, EMD Certification every two years, CPR Certification every two years.
