Here is a brief synopsis if day 2:
1. All info. Has been logged in knowledge center in the log.
2. 329, 331 and 380 left at 0230 yesterday to go to NO and evacuate hospitals. By 0930 sun, they began their mission (yes 7 hrs of waiting in their trucks). 329 and 331 took critical vent pts to the airport.
3. 324 and 380 did some misc. Transports to the Cajun dome and other facilities in NO and Baton Rouge.
4. Base camp was packed up and put into the truck, which has proven to be one of the biggest assets in the deployment. The lights and generator have helped many.
5. Mike Armstrong and myself are working well together as is the team leader from Chester. As both Mike and I are not assigned to units, we are splitting ops times every 12 hours.
6. Lots of little issues today. I didn't sit at all. I think I may have lost 5 lbs!
7. Carl has been an absolute asset to the trip. He continues to work wonders around the camp and has made a good friend in the fuel guy. He helped a bucks unit 300 miles away get fuel when they were desperate.
8. We are now in a shelter, where we anticipate being until Tuesday. Our mission when storm is over will be SAR and 911. Accommodations are surprisingly good and it is cool which everyone needs.
329, 380 and 331 all put in 16 hrs and TRAPPE about 12. The first crews went to work right after driving 23 hrs and are all dead asleep right now.
