Fire Fighter Level II - Written and Practical Challenge Test May 5, 2012

 

This is the written and practical challenge test for The Pennsylvania Voluntary Certification Program accredited by the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications (NPQS) and the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC).  Successful completion of a certification level permits you to apply to the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications for national certification and registry.

The Fire Fighter I or II written test is 100 multiple choice questions based on the NFPA 1001 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications 2002 Edition.  The passing grade for the written test is 70 percent. 

The practical, hands-on skill testing for Fire Fighting I has 12 skill stations that must all be successfully passed.   Fire Fighter II will have 5 skill stations that must all be passed.  You must successfully complete both the written and practical tests to be certified.  You must be certified as a Fire Fighter I before making application to challenge Fire Fighter II.

Candidates can also obtain the appropriate Candidate Handbook, Application from Herbert D. Adams, Coordinator, Montgomery County Fire Academy at 610-278-3500. All applications (when totally completed and all necessary documents attached) should be submitted (Do Not Fax) by the registration Spring deadline of April 15, 2011  and the Fall deadline of August 31, 2011 to the attention of Herbert D. Adams at Montgomery County Fire Academy, 1175 Conshohocken Road, Conshohocken, PA 19428.

Class Size Limit: Fire Fighter I - 30 students; Fire Fighter II - 30 students.

Certificate(s) issued: Office Of The State Fire Commissioner Certificate with a National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications state number and a International Fire Service Accreditation Congress national number.  The applicant will also receive a form to apply for certification and registry with the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.

Cost: Firefighting I - $100.00; Firefighter II - $75.00

 

Operations  - Written and Practical Challenge Test May 5, 2012

The Hazardous Materials Awareness written test  is 100 multiple choice questions based on the NFPA 472 Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, 2007 Edition.  The passing grade for the written test is 70 percent. There is NO hands-on skills testing at the Awareness Level. 

The Hazardous Materials Operations and Technician written test  is 100 multiple choice questions based on the NFPA 472 Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, 2007 Edition.  The passing grade for the written test is 70 percent. 

Hazardous Materials Operation will have 6 skill stations that must all be successfully passed. Hazardous Material Technician will have 7 skill stations that must all be passed.  You must successfully complete both the written and practical tests to be certified.

Pumper Driver-Operator - Written and Practical Challenge Test May 5, 2012

 

This is the written and practical challenge test for The Pennsylvania Voluntary Certification Program accredited by the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications(NPQS) and the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC).  Successful completion of a certification level permits you to apply to the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications for national certification and registry.

The Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator - Pumper written test is 100 multiple choice questions based on the NFPA 1002 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications 2003 Edition.  The passing grade for the written test is 70 percent.  The written and skills test are based on information that can be found in the IFSTA (International Fire Service Training Association) Pump Apparatus Driver/Operator, 1st Edition. 

The practical, hands-on skill testing for Pumper Driver-Operator will have 6 skill stations that must all be successfully passed.

Student Equipment/ Supplies Needed: Written Test - Bring #2 pencils.  Students will need to bring an Engine/Pump and  F.T.O.G.

Class Size Limit: 14 students.
