Raymond Powell Charged with Assault of a Correctional Officer at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on September 23, 2009
 
 
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman announces the arrest today of Raymond Powell for the assault of a correctional officer at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on September 23, 2009.  Powell is charged with Aggravated Assault against a Police Officer, Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another, Simple Assault, and Harassment.
 
Raymond Powell had originally been arrested September 18, 2009, and charged for Violations of the Drug Act and Firearms Related Charges. Powell is one of six defendants in a drug trafficking ring operating out of Norristown and Plymouth Township.
 
The correctional officer was taken to Montgomery Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries and later released.
 
The defendant’s Preliminary Hearing is scheduled to be held before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Crahalla on October 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM.  Judge Crahalla’s office is located at 133 Level Road, Collegeville, PA  19426. 
 
ADA Tonya Lupinacci has been assigned to prosecute the case.
