Kevin Mack of Philadelphia, PA Arrested in Connection to Forty-Seven Commercial Burglaries Throughout Montgomery and Chester Counties

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman, Plymouth Township Police Chief Joseph Lawrence, Upper Merion Township Police Chief Ronald Fonock, Whitpain Township Police Chief Mark Smith, Montgomery Township Police Chief Richard Brady, along with Tredyffrin Township Police Superintendent Andrew W. Chambers  (Chester County) and the Chester County District Attorney Joseph Carroll, announce the filing of criminal charges against Kevin Mack in connection to forty-seven commercial burglaries.  Prior to his arrest, Mack resided in the 4000 block of Presidential Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19131

On August 27, 2009, Plymouth Township Police Officers responded to Plymouth Woods Office Complex, 527 Plymouth Road, Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, for a subject attempting to gain entry into a vending machine by force. Plymouth Officers quickly responded and after a short foot chase, the subject, Kevin Mack, was apprehended. At the time of his apprehension, Mack was in possession of screwdrivers, a hammer and latex gloves.
 
An investigation initiated by the Plymouth Township Police Department, linked Mack to numerous burglaries and vending machine thefts across the region, including: Plymouth Township, Montgomery County; Whitpain Township, Montgomery County; Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County and Tredyffrin Township, Chester County. These burglaries began in December of 2008. In summary, detectives uncovered evidence that Mack stole electronics equipment, flat screen televisions, laptop computers, projectors and cash from vending machines. The total loss and damage of items and is approximately $40,000.00. 
 
Investigators learned that Mack was formerly employed at Kastle Security Systems in Philadelphia and Electronic Security Systems in Woodlyn, PA.  Mack was trained in the installation and monitoring of commercial business security systems.  He used his training and experience to defeat the security systems of dozens of businesses. 
 
By agreement with the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, Montgomery County authorities will prosecute all of the offenses. A consolidated criminal complaint will be filed today by the Plymouth Township Police Detective Jeffrey McGee with 47 counts of Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief, Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, Receiving Stolen Property and Possessing Instruments of Crime. All of charges from the other jurisdictions are incorporated in the Plymouth Township criminal complaint.
 
District Judge Francis J. Bernhardt will arraign Mack on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at noon.

Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney John N. Gradel is assigned to prosecute the case.
