FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUST 14, 2009
SETH GRIFFITH, AGE 31, OF NORRISTOWN, PA, ARRESTED IN NEVADA FOR THE JULY 27, 2009 SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A NINETEEN YEAR OLD RESIDENT OF LOWER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP
Risa Vetri Ferman and Lower Providence Township Police Chief Francis L. Carroll, III announce the arrest of Seth Griffith, thirty-one years of age, of the 500 block of Haws Avenue, Norristown, PA, 19401, after a vehicle stop in Nevada.
Griffith was wanted for the July 27, 2009 sexual assault of a nineteen year old resident of the Audubon section of Lower Providence Township. Griffith followed the victim from the Walmart store on South Trooper Road in West Norriton Township to her residence where he unlawfully entered the residence and committed the sexual assault.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Griffith on July 29, 2009. He was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer system as a wanted person. Information was developed by investigators that Griffith had fled the area.
Griffith was taken into custody as a result of a traffic enforcement effort in which an officer checked the registration plate of the vehicle that he was operating. The check revealed that the registration plate being displayed on the vehicle had been reported stolen in the state of Alabama and did not belong to the vehicle. The officer stopped the vehicle and Griffith was indentified as a wanted person through a check of the NCIC computer system. He was taken into custody. Subsequently, it was determined that the vehicle that Griffith was operating had been stolen in the state of Georgia.
Griffith was committed to the Mineral County Jail in Nevada. Extradition proceedings have been initiated by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
