ABINGTON POLICE OFFICERS ROBERT DAVIS, SHAWN NIBSET AND OFFICER VINCENT DIANTONIO WILL RECEIVE THE POLICE VALOR AWARD FROM THE CITIZEN'S CRIME COMMISSION
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman announces that there will be Montgomery County recipients of the Citizen’s Crime Commission Awards for their Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Luncheon, which will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at noon in the Grand Ballroom of the Bellevue in Philadelphia.
Abington Police Officers Robert Davis, Shawn Nisbet and Officer Vincent DiAntonio will receive the Police Valor Award for their actions in the case of Commonwealth v. Leon Bailado. On December 22, 2008 the Officers responded to a domestic call involving a man with a gun. Soon after their arrival the defendant shot Officer Davis. The defendant was shot and then the Officers performed first aid on the defendant and saved him.
The Captain of the Sex Crimes Unit, Assistant District Attorney Samantha Cauffman, Detective Raymond Kuter, and Detective Mary Anders of Montgomery County Detective Bureau Task Force on Internet Crimes Against Children will receive the Unit Citation for the case of Commonwealth v. Brian Benner. The case involved an investigation that led to the seizure of thousands of images and videos of child pornography. The investigation also led to search warrants and arrests of people involved in child pornography throughout the United States and the World. The defendant is awaiting sentencing in Montgomery County.
