Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman announces the arrest of Kathy FOER-MORSE in connection with Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, Theft by Deception, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Forgery and other related Crimes that occurred within Norristown Borough, Montgomery County.

In July 2008, FOER-MORSE was hired as a paralegal in the Estates Department of the law firm of High Swartz, LLP, which is located in Norristown.  On May 01, 2009, FOER-MORSE was terminated from High Swartz due to problems with her work performance and attitude.  An internal audit of the estate accounts handled by FOER-MORSE revealed that FOER-MORSE wrote 12 unauthorized checks to herself totaling $100,937.32, which were deposited into her personal bank account.  These unauthorized disbursements of funds were reported to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau.  County Detectives learned that FOER-MORSE was currently free on bail and awaiting sentencing in New York City for a theft of $285,000.00 from the law firm of Satterlee Stephens Burke & Burke LLP, which is located at 230 Park Ave, New York City, NY.  A search warrant of FOER-MORSE’s bank accounts revealed that the money FOER-MORSE stole from High Swartz was being used to pay restitution in her open New York City case.

On May 15, 2009, Magisterial District Judge Margaret Hunsicker arraigned FOER-MORSE and set her bail in the amount of $99,000 straight bail.  A preliminary hearing on this matter is currently scheduled for May 26, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Magisterial District Judge Margaret Hunsicker’s Office, which is located at 754 East Johnson Highway, Norristown, PA 19401-3110.

The case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Robert J. Sander, who is the Captain of the Economic Crime Unit.
