ABOUT THE CHIEF OF JUVENILE DIVISION

Sharon Giamporcaro, Chief of Juvenile Division, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania

Sharon Giamporcaro joined the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office in 1992.  She currently serves as Chief of the Juvenile Division and Deputy District Attorney.  Ms. Giamporcaro supervises all juvenile investigations and prosecutions, and is responsible for training Assistant District Attorneys in the Juvenile Division.  In 2001, she was awarded the District Attorney’s Medal for outstanding service.  Ms. Giamporcaro also assists in the management of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Youth Aid Panel Program, the School Safety Committee and the District Attorney’s Truancy Task Force. 
 
In 2010, Ms. Giamporcaro was appointed to the Board of Managers for the Montgomery County Youth Center, and appointed to the Pennsylvania Bar Association Task Force on the Interbranch Commission Report on Juvenile Justice.  Ms. Giamporcaro has lectured for law enforcement agencies, educational institutions and community organizations on numerous occasions throughout Montgomery County on the topics of Juvenile Justice, Criminal Law and safety issues.  She has presented continuing legal education training for the Montgomery Bar Association and has served as a Co-Chair for their Juvenile Rules Committee.
 
Ms. Giamporcaro graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, and received her Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University School of Law in 1986.  She was admitted to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the United States District for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in 1986.
