The present-day Salford Township was established in 1892 when the Township of Upper Salford was divided into two voting districts. Salford Township has a varied topography and some of the most handsome scenery in the county which includes flat meadows, rugged wooded hills and creeks. This area was settled primarily by Pennsylvania Germans. The township has been historically home to family farms. Today, the landscape is slowly noticing single family homes and other small developments. However, the area retains much of its rural character and heritage. The most recognizable portion of the township is the small village of Tylersport, located near the Bucks County border.
