Red Hill Borough was incorporated on October 9, 1902, and took its small portion of land from Upper Hanover Township. In its early days, the railroads helped connect the area and its products to other communities, including Philadelphia. The major industry at this time was cigar making. Today, Red Hill and its sister boroughs of East Greenville and Pennsburg maintain older housing stock and are considered a link to communities in other counties such as Quakertown, Bucks County, and the Allentown area. This quaint community retains its small town character. It should be noted that some residents may have a Red Hill mailing address, but are actually located in surrounding New Hanover Township.
PUBLIC SERVICES:
The entire borough is serviced by public water and sewer facilities. Full-time police protection is provided by the Pennsylvania State Police which serves the contiguous Boroughs of East Greenville, Pennsburg and Red Hill. Fire protection is provided by volunteer companies. Residential trash disposal is provided by the borough through private contracted haulers. Special trash bags must be purchased.
RECREATION:
Facilities include a local park with a picnic area and athletic fields located at area schools. Little League programs are run by a private organization. For more information on what is available, please call 215-679-2040.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:
No SEPTA bus or rail lines service the area.
SHOPPING:
Main street shopping is easily accessible to local residents. The main street areas of the other boroughs are also easily accessible. The nearest major shopping area is Quakertown in Bucks County.
