MONTGOMERY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
| Twenty-two public school districts are responsible for the education of the young people in Montgomery County. While most of the school districts are based within the county, students in certain bordering municipalities may attend a public school located in another county. Five public school districts are comprised of students from more than one county. This includes Boyertown, North Penn, Souderton, Spring-Ford, and Upper Perkiomen.
For your convenience, we have provided some basic information on all twenty-two public school districts. For more information, please feel free to contact any of the districts below. |

SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS: The Special Education program is highly individualized and sufficiently flexible to serve the needs of a variety of exceptional students. Each student has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and thus receives a specially designed program within the total school setting. Students are mainstreamed into regular classes for part of their schedules where appropriate. Special Education teachers work cooperatively with the regular classroom teachers and other staff members and often engage in co-teaching with their regular education colleagues. Special programs include resource rooms, part-time programs, and itinerant services.
HONORS/GIFTED PROGRAMS: Gifted programming is offered from K-12. Gifted students in grades 3-8 and 12 are grouped together for a portion of each day to ensure the stimulation and challenge of their intellectual peers. The curriculum program is a combination of enrichment and acceleration within the content areas.
LANGUAGE PROGRAMS: Upper Merion offers modern languages from grades 5-12. Courses in modern foreign languages teach students the basic language skills of listening, speaking and writing within a cultural context. This balanced-skills approach is designed to lead to a conscious control of the language system. Proficiency expectations are relative to the length and quality of study.
